Roofr
Roofr is a roofing-focused option for connecting measurements, proposals and the work that follows a sale. Evaluate it when the handoff from an estimator to purchasing and production is the main problem, rather than treating it as another general contractor calendar.
Who should evaluate Roofr?
A roofing business selling replacements can use a common test to compare Roofr with a broader project system: take one property from a measurement report to an accepted proposal, material order, crew instructions and invoice. A solo estimator and a business with separate sales and production staff will need different permissions and routines. Our business-size tags are editorial starting points, not vendor seat limits.
If your workload is dominated by complex commercial contracts, formal submittals or multi-trade construction, require a separate demonstration of those needs. A roofing-specific product is not automatically a substitute for every estimating, accounting or document-control tool.
From measurement to production
The official product overview describes measurement reports, proposals, material ordering, work orders, invoices and job boards. The practical attraction is keeping the sold scope connected to production. Test the relationship between the accepted materials, supplier order and crew instructions, not just how attractive the proposal looks.
Bring an original report and a revised version for a fictional property. Ask which version feeds the estimate, who checks quantities and waste assumptions, and what happens after the customer has accepted the earlier proposal. Do not treat imported or calculated quantities as a site inspection or a guarantee that ordering quantities are correct.
Free entry does not mean a free operating workflow
Roofr’s pricing page lists a $0/month Starter plan, limited trial documents and paid plans. Measurement reports remain separately charged. Scale adds capabilities such as job costing, crew management and QuickBooks integration. The page marks change orders as coming soon; do not depend on that capability until the vendor demonstrates its released version.
Price your report volume, required production features, optional lead-generation tools and payment costs separately. Ask for currency, billing commitment and renewal terms in writing. Starter access is not evidence of an unrestricted, time-limited trial of every paid feature; our free-trial field remains Unknown.
Accounting and mobile limits matter
The pricing documentation identifies QuickBooks integration as beta, US-only and not compatible with QuickBooks Desktop. Demonstrate a corrected invoice and partial payment on the accounting edition you actually use. Confirm regional payment eligibility and the precise records, direction and error handling of each connection before relying on it.
Roofr describes an app-like mobile browser experience, rather than a conventional app-store download. Most sending actions still need internet access. The Mobile App field says No to distinguish a native app from this mobile access, not to imply that Roofr cannot be used on a phone. Test your own device at a weak-signal site.
A useful roofing pilot
- Create a fictional job with two report revisions and an optional material upgrade. Keep the declined option identifiable.
- Accept a proposal, generate the material order and distinguish a submitted order from supplier confirmation and receipt. Include a substitution or partial delivery.
- Give production staff the accepted scope, then introduce a weather delay and a return task. Check who owns each exception.
- Prepare an invoice and sample accounting export. Use no real customer messages, orders or payments during evaluation.
- Export the job records and documents. Record every missing requirement and any manual workaround before approving a switch.
Set up the handoff before importing everything
Choose a maintained material catalog, standard job stages and a person responsible for reviewing quantities. Pilot a small set of fictional records first. Before cutover, reconcile accepted proposals, outstanding orders and deposits; avoid two uncontrolled production calendars or duplicate supplier orders.
Compare the type of system you need
Evaluate JobTread or Contractor Foreman when broader construction administration drives the decision. STACK addresses takeoff and estimating, while CompanyCam addresses photo documentation; neither is an interchangeable replacement for the whole Roofr workflow.
Use the roofing buying guide for requirements and acceptance criteria, then keep your verified package and unanswered questions in My Shortlist. This is an editorial evaluation based on vendor documentation, not a hands-on test verdict or a ranked recommendation.
