ArcSite
Where ArcSite fits
ArcSite is a drawing-and-estimating candidate for the part of a job where field observations must become measured quantities and a customer proposal. Its pricing separates drawings, takeoffs and estimates rather than promising every function at the entry price. Consider it when a sketch, measurement sheet and estimate are being rebuilt independently. That is different from managing dispatch, subcontractor commitments or a complete construction programme. For a specialist trade, first check that the available shapes, product catalogue and required drawing output match your work; the presence of a drawing tool alone does not establish a trade-specific estimating library.
Do not confuse drawing with estimating
Draw Pro is advertised at USD $34.99 monthly, while Takeoff is $119.99 and Estimates $159.99; the page also shows annual-billing equivalents. A cheaper Draw Basic plan is aimed at DIY use and is not an equivalent professional estimating package. The advertised trial lasts 14 days. Record whether each test uses Takeoff or Estimates functionality, and ask what remains after selecting a paid plan. Confirm seats, renewal currency, financing/payment charges and any onboarding service. Scanner and measurement capabilities can depend on the device, not just the subscription.
A measured-work pilot
Use a fictional small renovation with two rooms, one opening and two finish zones. Bring your own verified dimensions rather than assuming a scan is correct. Draw the geometry, label the areas and preserve the first revision. Add one product bundle and check the unit basis, rounding, wastage and labor assumption against your independent worksheet. Change a dimension and examine which quantities and costs update. Introduce a second option without overwriting the original customer scope. Produce a proposal on the relevant plan, then export the drawing and the underlying quantity list separately. Ask another estimator to reproduce the result from those records. Finally revise the job after acceptance: demonstrate how the earlier drawing, approved scope and later changes remain distinguishable. None of this should be tested by sending a real proposal, taking a payment or relying on unverified dimensions for construction.
Devices, libraries and connected systems
Test on the tablets and phones your estimators actually own. Check screen readability outdoors, attachment capture and the workflow after a weak connection. Ask whether your measurement device is supported and what happens when a dimension must be corrected manually. Decide who maintains product prices and how each revision is dated. Integration and API access vary by package; request a demonstration with your named CRM or accounting system. An exported PDF may be a useful customer record, but it is not the same as editable quantities or a complete accounting handoff.
Adoption and estimating safeguards
Start with one estimator and one common job type. Review the catalogue units, rounding rules and pricing assumptions before sharing templates with the full team. Have a second person approve the first several estimates and document discrepancies. Keep original measurements and source plans independently available. Agree whether approved drawings can be edited and how superseded copies are marked. Before committing, export a complete test job, including attachments and line items, and check whether the receiving tool can use it. The software does not replace competent measurement, scope review or any professional approval your project requires.
Alternatives to compare
Compare Exayard for drawing-based takeoff and Handoff for AI-assisted residential estimating; Handoff plan-based takeoff requires Scale and is excluded from its ordinary trial. JobTread and Projul address downstream project control. These are different roles: use independently checked dimensions, revisions and your own cost basis before evaluating exports and handoffs.
STACK is another drawing-based takeoff candidate; Roofr has roofing measurement/report boundaries. Compare scale, revisions and quantity provenance without treating the workflows as identical.
Vendor product and plan documentation | Supporting vendor information.
These are documentation-based evaluation questions, not a hands-on review or a ranked recommendation. Confirm your required country, plan, devices, integrations and contract terms with the provider. A free plan, a demonstration and a refund guarantee are not interchangeable with a free trial. Use fictional data until access and data handling are agreed.
