Exayard
Where Exayard fits
Exayard is a plan-based takeoff and estimating candidate, including landscape installations and trade projects measured from drawings. It belongs in an estimating comparison, not in a recurring maintenance dispatch comparison. The feature material describes AI-assisted measurement, manual measurement, pricing and proposal workflows. Treat automated quantities as a starting point requiring estimator review rather than accepting vendor accuracy language as a measured result. A contractor still owns the scope and price submitted to the customer.
Price, AI-work allowances and evaluation access
The monthly USD display lists Starter at $99 per user with $150 of AI work per seat, and Professional at $249 with $375 of AI work. Approximate sheet counts are guidance, not guaranteed capacity. The CAD display lists subscriptions at $139/$349 and allowances at $210/$525. Confirm eligibility, overages, reruns and yearly terms; currency selection alone does not establish country support. Unlimited seats are not free seats. A Get Started link is not a verified free trial.
A drawing-based takeoff pilot
Use a small fictional plan with two scales, a repeated symbol, an opening and a detail that must not be counted twice. Establish the scale independently using a known dimension. Calculate one room or planting bed manually before running automated measurement. Inspect the marked-up quantities, identify missed items and explain excluded areas. Change a plan revision and ask how measurements on the superseded sheet are distinguished from the current issue. Compare manual and assisted results line by line rather than only comparing the grand total. Keep an estimator signed-off version before creating the proposal.
Trade-specific estimating tests
A painting test should separate wall area, openings, surface preparation, coats and access effort. A landscaping installation should distinguish areas, lengths, counts and volumes while avoiding a promise of seasonal routing capability. For roofing, separate drawing quantities from site-verified waste, pitch, access and condition assumptions. For electrical or plumbing work, check fixture counts, routing assumptions and excluded specifications. Use your own supplier prices and realistic labor assumptions, then ask how alternates and allowances are displayed. An AI-generated estimate should not silently substitute market-price averages for an agreed local cost basis.
Exports and connected records
Export the estimate and measurements to the formats you actually use. Check units, rounding, cost-code mapping, attachments and the ability to distinguish revisions. For an accounting connection, trace the records and corrections with the accountant before enabling live synchronization. Ask whether the integration is native, plan-dependent or a separately maintained automation. Determine who can change the price book and who approves a customer-facing bid. Keep a copy of the issued proposal outside a changing working estimate. Test retrieval after removing an estimator account and ask about record retention and bulk exports.
Alternatives and fit limits
ArcSite offers a different evaluation centered on drawings and field-originated quantities. Handoff offers an AI estimating workflow with separate plan-based takeoff restrictions; do not assume its entry plan duplicates Exayard. Planyard and JobTread address estimates and downstream costs without necessarily replacing a dedicated plan-measurement process. Use the same drawing and cost assumptions across candidates. If formal specification review, large commercial documents or offline measurement is mandatory, make those explicit acceptance tests instead of inferring coverage from a general trade list.
STACK adds a drawing-takeoff alternative; Roofr addresses roofing reports and connected proposals. Verify quantity provenance and product/package scope rather than assuming equivalence.
